Satellite Ground Station (LUT)
Detection of distress beacons and beacon locations
- Earliest detection
- LEO / GEO processing
- Internally maintained orbit data
EMS SATCOM satellite ground stations, or Local User Terminals (LUTs), detect and locate distress signals relayed by SARSAT and COSPAS satellites and forward alert data to National Mission Control Centers (MCCs) for analysis and distribution to Rescue Coordination Centers (RCCs).
EMS SATCOM LEOLUTs receive and process distress beacon data from low earth orbit satellites using a light weight antenna sub system and a LEOSAR Local User Terminal. EMS SATCOM LUTs can function in dual LUT configurations (optimizing satellite coverage of a region) and can perform combined LEO/GEO processing (improving beacon location accuracy and speed).
EMS SATCOM GEOLUTs provide rapid notification of 406MHz beacon activations. These notifications are relayed by Geostationary Satellites almost immediately after a beacon is activated - alerting rescue authorities and significantly reducing SAR response time.
Components
Satellite ground stations components include advanced signal processing Local User Terminals (LUTs) and light weight antenna sub-systems.
